Have you ever wanted to play with ombre fabrics? This photo-like applique creates an appearance like no other.
Since the ombre fabric gradually changes you can use different sections for dramatic effect. The glass is one fabric used in different sections to create a 3D look.
Applique quilt size: 22" wide x 16" tall
Cut your background fabric to approx. 23”x 17” first. This is the fabric you will put all of the other pieces on top of. Then cut and place the glass and flower pieces on top of the black.
Make sure to fussy cut your ombre fabric to make light and dark places of the glass.
Once your applique pieces are fused to the background, stitch with a straight stitch around each piece with matching thread. You can add the embroidery lines now or during quilting.
Trim to square, then add a 2” border.
Add batting and backing and quilt as desired.
